In the second of a one-two punch in the Long Star State — after James Talarico defeated Ken Paxton for a U.S. Senate seat — Republican Gov.
Greg Abbott has lost his bid for reelection as Texas voters instead elevated Democrat Gina Hinojosa to the office.
After the race was called by the major networks, President Trump posted on Truth Social: “If Greg Abbott, the Governor of Texas, hadn’t become a RINO in the last six months of his Political Life, he wouldn’t have lost. He went back to his original formula, and it wasn’t pretty! President DONALD J. TRUMP”
Abbott was conspicuously absent from rallies Trump did for Republicans in Texas during the campaign.
When the race was called Abbott trailed Hinojosa by about 14 perentage points.
