College Republicans’ Populist Faction Makes Stunning Break With Trump Over Midterms, Broken Promises

College Republicans' populist faction made a stunning break with President Donald Trump over Tuesday's blue tsunami and the administration's broken promises.

The College Republican Patriot Coalition (CRPC), a consortium of college Republican groups across the country that align with America First, "unequivocally" laid the blame for the GOP's historic losses "at the feet of the Trump administration and the Republican Party." "This outcome was no accident," the group said in a statement. "It is the predictable result of an administration and a party that campaigned on America First and governed as though we would wait forever. This lame duck Republican government failed to do what it promised, and manipulated and insulted its base for sounding the alarms for two years."

"Millions of us young Americans knocked on doors, made calls, and cast first-time ballots for a movement that promised affordability, mass deportations, reindustrialization, and an end to foreign wars," CRPC continued. "Instead, we received a war on behalf of Israel, stunted deportations, and a flailing economy. On all fronts, the Republican Party and the Trump administration in particular has betrayed us."

CRPC urged Trump to "purge his administration of those who have not and will not deliver on the mandate voters gave him in 2024," immediately end the Iran War and focus instead on the affordability crisis that has led to young Americans "being priced out of their own country." The group also singled out the "disastrous and unintelligible" Iran War as the administration's "greatest betrayal."

"President Trump promised 'no new wars,' and millions of us believed him," CRPC said. "This administration broke that promise and dragged us into another endless conflict with Iran at the urging of Israel."

"Yesterday's defeat was not inflicted by the left and is not the fault of the Republican base, but lies squarely at the feet of this administration's broken promises," the group concluded. "Americans deserve more than broken promises. We deserve a true champion that will put America first."
