In 2012, El-Sayed joined other young radicals in signing a letter that called for a "purge" of journalists and police.
Abdul El-Sayed's own mother was a activist for the Islamic terror sponsor in the 1970s, per El-Sayed's sister.
El-Sayed's mother is also named in DOJ files related to her job in an organization that funded Al Qaeda, the Taliban, and other Islamic militias.
El-Sayed, who will now represent Michigan in the U.S. Senate, has gotten hostile with journalists and citizens who note these connections.
