As you likely already know by now, midterms were an absolute bloodbath for Republicans.
Democrats have now re-taken control of both the House and the Senate.
And yet, Senate Majority Leader John Thune remains as out of touch as ever.
In a post on X, Thune celebrated the "strong record of accomplishment" that Senate Republicans have achieved and promised they "will not stand idly by" once Democrats take over and try to reverse everything they've done.
Read what he had to say for yourself:
Over the last two years, Senate Republicans have put up a strong record of accomplishment that’s created safer streets, more money in Americans’ pockets, and new opportunities for families and businesses to get ahead. After fighting Democrat obstruction at every turn, we…

Over the last two years, Senate Republicans have put up a strong record of accomplishment that's created safer streets, more money in Americans' pockets, and new opportunities for families and businesses to get ahead. After fighting Democrat obstruction at every turn, we prevented the largest tax hike in American history, secured our border in an unprecedented way, confirmed the president's Cabinet at the fastest pace in two decades, and put strong conservative judges on benches across the country faster than we have since the Reagan administration. I'm proud of our team and everything we've done for the American people, and I'm looking forward to the important work we have in front of us over the next few months. As we head into 2027, Senate Republicans will not stand idly by as the far-left, socialist wing of the Democrat Party attempts to unwind everything we've done. Thankfully, we still have President Trump in the White House, and we'll work with him to stop the worst impulses of Democrat extremism. We cannot let their fringe positions become the mainstream.
I'm sorry, but I'm not sure which Senate Thune is talking about…
The major political shakeup we saw on Tuesday is largely due to Republicans' unproductiveness in the Senate and the House.
That's not just my opinion.
Heading into the midterms, the 119th Congress was among the least effective of any in the past several decades.
In fact, it only narrowly passed more substantive laws than the 118th Congress.
Take a look at this chart from Pew Research Center showing how this year's Congress stacked up against previous ones:
Since the start of President Trump's term, Congressional Republicans have proven insanely unproductive.
And yet, Thune says he's "proud" of all the (imaginary) work they've done.
The American people are disillusioned and sending Thune a wake-up call.
His X post got ratioed hard, with roughly 54K comments at the time of writing this — but, only 3.5K likes!
Take a look:
And that's not all.
Folks are absolutely letting Thune have it on X.
Take a look at some of these replies to his incredibly tone-deaf post:
You fcked us all.

Sir, I say this with all due respect…

It’s time for you to step down and do it immediately.
You did nothing. The worst Majority Leader for the Rs in history. You had one job: Pass the SAVE America act. That's it. You failed historically.

Moving forward, John Thune's name will replace Benedict Arnold's as the biggest traitor in U.S. history.

Not passing the SAVE Act will go down as one of the biggest crimes against taxpaying citizens.
You could have at least been self reflective. Instead you refuse to ever take responsibility for any of your failures. Sad.

Time for you, John Thune, to slither back under the rock you crawled out from. Leave us alone.
— Dan Hill (@dandinohill) November 4, 2026
You've done enough damage - by doing Nothing at all for 2 yrs.
Scott Presler replied to Thune with screenshots of all the posts he made urging him to pass the SAVE Act — which went ignored:
Conservative commentator Mike Cernovich perhaps had the harshest words for Thune, labeling him a "demon inside a human skin suit."
Abolish the filibuster, pass the SAVE Act. End blue slips. Confirm judges. Go into recess, Trump makes appointments. You sabotaged the country. You are a demon inside a human skin suit.

What do you think? Are you happy with Thune's leadership?
