Y'all saw the results on Tuesday. I don't need to remind you. It was not great.
It was, in fact, a pretty historic route; Democrats retook the House and Senate, they flipped around three dozen seats at the federal level, they flipped multiple
state legislatures, they turned Texas (TEXAS) blue. It was bad.
And how is the leader of the opposition party responding to this existential political crisis?
Well:
Republicans were absolutely, unequivocally stomped at the polls on Tuesday, but Trump's first public appearance afterwards was about his ballroom.

Y'all know we don't exactly quote HuffPost regularly around here, but its report captures the absurdity of this spectacle pretty accurately:
The day after his party lost control of Congress in a historic landslide, President Donald Trump took significant time out of his day to celebrate the ongoing construction of his ballroom at the White House.
'It's been the dream of presidents to have a ballroom for 150 years,' Trump said Wednesday before adding his signature to the structure's final beam.
It was a bizarre spectacle.
Yes, it was!
Sure, there's not a whole lot Trump can do in a practical sense. He can't reverse the elections. He's not going to mount a legal challenge to the results. He himself is a lame duck in his second term.
He also has people who set his schedule. Someone decided that this event, which was also meant to honor the workers who built the ballroom, was a good idea to schedule right after the election.
If the admin had some sense, it might have realized that this is a moment to at least try and rally the troops, or help the GOP bandage its wounds in some way.
Instead he's talking about, um, marble flooring.
Not a great look for a GOP president after a major Democrat victory.
The political winds are changing. Buckle up for the ride!
