California Democrats gathered over the weekend for their 2026 state convention, where gubernatorial candidates vied for a party endorsement. None of them, however, secured a majority of the support to be the leading candidate.

Democratic candidates in the state have struggled to gain traction among voters, with at least nine top party members running for governor. Concerns have risen within the party about the possibility of the top two Republican candidates advancing through the jungle primary and onto the general election ballot. An individual allegedly opened fire at a U.S. Border Patrol agent near the Canadian border and prompted the officer to shoot back, sending the suspect to the hospital.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) alleged that a person shot at a Border Patrol agent around 1 a.m. on Feb. 22 in the small town of Pittsburgh, New Hampshire, which is home to about 800 people, The Associated Press (AP) reported. Pittsburgh is a rural New England town that lies adjacent to the Canadian province of Quebec.

Tom Hanks will step into the shoes of former President Abraham Lincoln in the highly anticipated film “Lincoln In The Bardo.”

This is the first time the Oscar-winning actor will play the role of a president, Deadline reported.

The Starburns Industries period-film will reportedly be comprised of a combination of live-action and stop-motion animation, and it will be based on George Saunders’ bestselling book. Hanks will be on double duty as a producer through his Playtone label, according to the outlet.

California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom admitted his party needs to spend less time on woke politics in an interview with CNN that aired Monday.

Newsom told CNN’s Dana Bash that Democrats need to be “more focused on tabletop issues,” including electricity, childcare and housing costs. He argued that, from a “tactical perspective,” Democrats need to be more “culturally normal” in their politics.

Victims of the Palisades Fire are slamming the City of Los Angeles after they say they received bills alleging noncompliance with brush clearance rules despite having lost their homes.

Residents allege they have received $31 noncompliance bills in the mail over a year after the Palisades Fire occurred, according to FOX 11. Christine Martinez, one of the residents who lost her home in the fire, told FOX 11 receiving a noncompliance bill was “one final blow.”

The United States allegedly provided the Mexican government with intelligence that helped locate cartel leader Nemesio “El Mencho” Rubén Oseguera Cervantes according to Reuters.

The Mexican army conducted an operation Sunday to capture El Mencho which led to the infamous cartel leader’s death.
