How an Aussie teacher's Halloween night out ended in tragedy after she died climbing a pub drainpipe - as friends speak out: 'Out of character'

A young woman who fell to her death while celebrating Halloween with friends in Adelaide's party precinct has been identified as a teacher's aide and skating instructor.

Natasha 'Tash' Lawton, 20, was trying to scale a drainpipe at the Rosemont Hotel when it broke shortly after 4am on Sunday, causing her to fall. She died at the scene.

The Daily Mail understands she was not a patron at the Rosemont and attempted to scale the drainpipe as she was passing by.

The tragedy has sparked an outpouring of tributes, including from a family friend who described Ms Lawton as 'a very sensible person' and said her final actions were 'out of character'.

'She wasn't a silly person. It's just a very unfortunate thing that we've all done when we were that age, we've done silly things,' he told the Adelaide Advertiser.

Ms Lawton worked as a teacher's aide with primary school-aged children with additional needs while studying a teaching degree.

Her social media showed she had a love for skiing and travelling.

The 180-year-old Rosemont is one of Adelaide's most historic pubs and sits at the western end of Hindley Street, the city's late-night party hub.

More to come.
