Sen. Marsha Blackburn just delivered Tennessee conservatives a hard-fought victory—and she made history while doing it.
The Trump-backed Republican defeated Democrat Jerri Green and will become the first woman ever elected governor of Tennessee. In a brutal national environment for Republicans, the Volunteer State held the line.
This one was closer than many conservatives expected, but Blackburn finished the job. Her victory keeps the governor's office in Republican hands and gives Tennessee a proven fighter who has spent years taking on Big Tech, defending women and girls, and standing with President Trump.
Blackburn thanked the families, farmers, parents, and volunteers who powered her campaign—and made clear that the work starts immediately.
Thank you, Tennessee! I am honored and humbled to be elected the next Governor of the great state of Tennessee.

This victory belongs to the people who make Tennessee great—the families who work hard, the parents who sacrifice, the farmers who feed us, and the volunteers who… pic.twitter.com/hmttk0hhdo
The Tennessee Star reports that all 95 counties had submitted unofficial results by late Tuesday night. Blackburn received 957,136 votes, or 45.52%, while Green finished with 902,953 votes, or 42.95%. Independent David Hatley drew 195,564 votes, enough to turn what should have been a comfortable Republican win into a much tighter contest.
The result still carries real weight. Tennessee has never before elected a woman as governor, and Blackburn reached that milestone without sanding down the conservative record that built her career.
She framed the choice plainly before Election Day: common sense or socialism. Tennessee chose common sense.
This is a contrast election. Tomorrow, Tennesseans will choose between two very different visions for our state's future: common sense and socialism.

Tennessee is America's red wall of conservatism, and together, we're going to prove it.
Election Day is TOMORROW, Tuesday,…
Blackburn's campaign was not built on empty slogans. She pledged to keep taxes low, defend religious liberty, protect children, preserve school choice, crack down on waste, and make Tennessee what she calls America's conservative leader.
She also put rural health care squarely on the agenda, noting that 70 of Tennessee's 95 counties are rural and promising to bring quality care closer to the families who need it.
Tomorrow is an opportunity to build a Tennessee where every family has access to quality healthcare, no matter where they live.

With 70 of our 95 counties being rural, expanding access to healthcare is a necessity. I’ll continue working to bring quality healthcare closer to the…
Just the News notes that Blackburn plans to begin assembling her administration Wednesday. The outlet also reports that Green conceded and that Blackburn's move from the U.S. Senate will set up an appointment fight over who temporarily fills her seat before the next general election.
That decision will matter. Tennessee cannot afford to trade a reliable conservative vote in the Senate for a placeholder who folds when the pressure hits.
For now, though, conservatives have every reason to celebrate. Blackburn survived a difficult night, kept Tennessee red, and opened the door to a new generation of conservative leadership in Nashville.
The national map may have shifted, but Tennessee sent a clear message: this state is not interested in becoming New York or California. It wants lower taxes, safer communities, parental rights, and leaders who are not ashamed to say exactly what they believe.
Marsha Blackburn now has the mandate—and the responsibility—to deliver.
