A man was found dead inside a car outside a Connecticut polling station on Tuesday morning, less than an hour before voters began casting their ballots in the midterm elections.
Police rushed to the Killingly Public Schools administration building at 5:17am after receiving reports of an unresponsive man inside a vehicle.
The building was due to welcome voters from 6am as residents headed to the polls to decide a series of closely watched races, including the battle for Connecticut governor and control of Congress.
Despite the grim discovery and the subsequent police investigation, officials say the tragedy was unrelated to the election and that voting would continue as planned.
