Social media users slammed Ellen DeGeneres for tearfully mourning a longtime colleague before making what critics called a paltry donation toward the funeral expenses.
The multimillionaire sobbed on Instagram, publicly demonstrating her grief after learning of the death of longtime producer of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," Matthew Wright.
It was later revealed that a GoFundMe page seeking $50,000 was created to assist Wright's family with funeral expenses — and the entertainer publicly donated $5,000.

Wright worked on DeGeneres' show for 16 years and died unexpectedly at age 52.
Social media users largely scoffed at DeGeneres' tearful video, criticizing her funeral donation as paltry compared to her considerable wealth.
Others weighed in to say that any donation should be appreciated and questioned why a crowdfunding campaign would be required to cover the funeral costs for a successful Hollywood producer. DeGeneres deactivated comments on the video of herself mourning Wright's passing, preventing her followers from being able to share their thoughts directly on her page.
