There are a lot of people in the theory mill who have spent the last two days trying to explain why the Democrats won.
A lot of it is good data! The frustrations with the GOP are real.
But in almost every case, the commenters have overlooked this:
Children make you more conservative.
When you take the Millennials out of it (the youngest Millennial is now 30), the pattern with younger families becomes even more stark:
The more kids you have, the more conservative you are. And the more conservative you are, the more kids you have.
No one reading this sentence as an adult will be alive in a hundred years. You'll be buried and the world will go to ... well, it will go to the kids.
And then their kids. And then their kids. That's kinda how the world works.
But if you don't have kids?
Or just decide to kill those kids (like the 70+ million babies Americans have aborted)?
Well, why would you make a bunch of personal sacrifices for people who aren't even born yet?
Did you catch that 45% of men and 39% of women between 30 (born in 1996) and 44 (born in 1982) have no kids?
Start doing the civilizational math, ladies and gents. Think a century out. Think five centuries out.
(In other words, the fundamentalists at Focus on the Family were right about everything.)
The GOP made a lot of blunders. We also live in stupid times with people who vote for the leaders of the world's strongest empire based on vibes.
The best way to fix most of our problems?
Have kids.
