Yes, Los Angeles' most prominent gay neighborhood, West Hollywood, just approved a measure to allow polyamorous couples to register as partners.

It's not just that it passed; the West Hollywood City Council unanimously approved the ordinance. The progressive enclave in Los Angeles County voted 5-0 to let three or more consenting adults (no blood relations allowed, thankfully) file paperwork with the city clerk and gain certain local protections.

The measure allows people in relationships involving multiple partners to officially register with the city, granting them certain rights, including hospital visitation and additional tenant protections.
However, the law has its limitations, as it does not provide the same legal rights afforded to married couples or traditional domestic partners.

Still, to gays and whatever else this applies to, this is historic, and it's "just the beginning" of the pro-polyamory movement.

Never forget, when they legalized gay marriage, conservatives told you stuff like this was down the road.

The ordinance allows three or more individuals to formally register their relationship with the city by submitting paperwork to the city clerk. To qualify, participants must satisfy several conditions, including mutual consent and the absence of blood relations.
The measure also extends certain legal protections to registered partners, requiring healthcare facilities and city-operated jails to recognize their visitation rights. Additionally, it provides housing protections by preventing landlords from terminating or refusing to renew a lease when a partner remains in the rental property.

Is it anti-gay to oppose this? Because I'm sure we're gonna have to add polyamory to both the gay flag and the gay acronym now (unless it's already there).

Registration for this polyamorous partnership thing is open to anyone, not just West Hollywood residents. So if you're somebody who has multiple partners (looking at you, Charlie Sheen) and wants to have a legal partnership in LA, just mail in the forms and you should be good to go.
