I love this country.

Yes, that's right. Idaho is choosing a state gun.

Under House Bill 932, voters did indeed choose the Winchester Model 1873 as their official boomstick.

Here's the master himself with the lever-action cowboy gun in action:

Idaho becomes the 11th state to have an official gun.

• Alaska: Pre-1964 Winchester Model 70

• Arizona: Colt Single Action Army revolver ("Peacemaker")

• Indiana: Grouseland Rifle

• Kentucky: Kentucky long rifle

• Missouri: Hawken rifle

• Pennsylvania: Pennsylvania long rifle

• Tennessee: Barrett M82

• Texas: 1847 Colt Walker pistol (official handgun)

• Utah: Browning M1911 pistol

• West Virginia: Hall Model 1819 flintlock rifle

(Arkansas also classified "the shotgun" as its official state gun in 2019 but that doesn't count until they give us a specific model!)

The legislature must pass an official resolution in order to make things official, but this is Idaho, so it shouldn't be hard.
