Stephen Miller named White House chief, quickly goes on offense: 'Fight with all of our soul.'

Newly appointed White House chief of staff Stephen Miller on Friday went on offense in a statement thanking President Donald Trump for the position.

Miller is viewed as an immigration hawk and one of the staunchest advocates for an aggressive deportation agenda. He has long been a favorite of the online right and a source of revulsion among Democrats.

"President Trump is the most transformative political leader in American History — and he has single-handedly saved America from those who would destroy it," Miller said. " It has been the privilege of my lifetime to have served on his team from Day One, and I am honored beyond words to serve as his White House Chief of Staff."

He also thanked outgoing chief of staff Susie Wiles for her "years of devoted service to the President and the Country, and for her friendship."

Miller's commitment to mass deportations has frequently become the subject of memes, with many joking about his single-minded focus on the issue.
