DHS suspending TSA PreCheck and Global Entry as partial shutdown continues

DHS suspending TSA PreCheck and Global Entry as partial shutdown continues

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced it will temporarily suspend two popular expedited travel programs, TSA PreCheck and Global Entry, as a partial government shutdown continues.

The move, set to begin early Sunday morning, comes after funding for the department lapsed when Congress failed to pass a budget deal.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said in a statement that the department is facing serious funding constraints and must reassign staff to basic security operations at airports and ports of entry.

As a result, services that allow vetted travelers to speed through security and customs will be paused so personnel can focus on processing the broader traveling public.
