A Perth woman has been charged over the alleged stalking and attempted extortion of Greens Senator Jordon Steele-John.
She has been charged with aggravated stalking with intent to intimidate and demanding property by written threats.
The woman, who has not been identified, is scheduled to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday morning.
The development comes as Steele-John remains on leave from the Greens party room while separate allegations raised about his conduct in a letter sent to leader David Shoebridge are investigated.
The Western Australian senator has strongly denied any wrongdoing and maintains he is the victim of abuse rather than its perpetrator.
He stepped aside from parliamentary party activities while the Greens conduct their internal investigation.
Steele-John said he asked the WA Greens to investigate the concerns raised about his conduct 'fairly and thoroughly' after learning about the letter.
He said the letter referred to alleged incidents but provided little detail and insisted he would cooperate with any formal investigation.

Steele-John also revealed the matter was reported to WA Police, that he voluntarily participated in an interview, and that the investigation was later closed without charges being laid.
The senator said he had been the victim of family violence and extortion, alleging a former partner engaged in a campaign of harassment after their relationship ended.
He further alleged internal Greens factional disputes had contributed to the allegations being brought into the public domain ahead of future preselection battles.
WA Greens and the independent Parliamentary Standards Commission are now conducting investigations into the matter.
Shoebridge has said the allegations should be examined through a 'fair, timely and independent process' and maintained a period of leave was appropriate while inquiries are underway.
