Incumbent Alaska GOP Sen. Dan Sullivan's campaign account on X was temporarily suspended Friday night for purportedly violating the platform's rules against inauthentic accounts, days after a
report that Democrat operatives recruited a same-name challenger to confuse voters in Tuesday's election.
The account, @DanSullivan_AK, has since been restored.

Sullivan's campaign and Chris Olmstead, a regional political director for the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), accused Democrat Senate nominee Mary Peltola and her allies of falsely reporting Sen. Sullivan's account for impersonation.

Peltola's campaign denied involvement.
The Sullivan campaign tells me its X account was suspended for “violating our rules against inauthentic accounts.” His camp points fingers at Peltola camp being behind an effort to say, essentially, that he’s a fake Dan #Sullivan.

The accusation comes days after the Justice Department sent subpoenas to Peltola's campaign and the campaign of the second Dan Sullivan, who was reportedly recruited to play a spoiler role in the race. Federal prosecutors are investigating whether the effort to put the second Sullivan on the ballot violates federal conspiracy statutes.
The subpoenas follow a New York Times investigation that traced the effort to recruit spoiler candidates to leftist operatives working with Peltola campaign staffers and national Democrats.
The dirty-tricks campaign kicked off in the summer of 2025. A Peltola staffer was instructed to search voter records and track down as many registered voters in Alaska named "Dan Sullivan" as possible, the Times reported.
The goal apparently was to siphon votes from the Republican incumbent under Alaska's top-four primary and ranked-choice general election system.
The Democrat operatives found Dan J. Sullivan, a retired schoolteacher who harbored a grudge against President Donald Trump, and he agreed to run.
Fired Peltola campaign manager Elisa Rios was the Times' primary on-the-record source. She later sought to retract her statements, but the Times said her account matched its other reporting, including internal texts showing national Democrats and campaign aides plotting the maneuver. The texts also showed them mocking unsuspecting voters and celebrating when the second Dan Sullivan survived a ballot challenge.
Peltola's campaign has denied recruiting candidates.
