After Mexico’s armed forces killed a notorious cartel leader, triggering widespread chaos, a Canadian politician responded by focusing on citizens’ sexuality.
Canadian Member of Parliament Heather McPherson addressed Canadians who are currently in the Mexican city of Puerto Vallarta, which has been heavily impacted by the ongoing cartel unrest sweeping the nation. The politician emphasized Canadians who identify with the “2SLGBTQIA+ community” currently in the city. The unrest follows a Mexican military operation that targeted and killed the drug kingpin El Mencho, who ran the deadly Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). California Democrats gathered over the weekend for their 2026 state convention, where gubernatorial candidates vied for a party endorsement. None of them, however, secured a majority of the support to be the leading candidate.

An individual allegedly opened fire at a U.S. Border Patrol agent near the Canadian border and prompted the officer to shoot back, sending the suspect to the hospital.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) alleged that a person shot at a Border Patrol agent around 1 a.m. on Feb. 22 in the small town of Pittsburgh, New Hampshire, which is home to about 800 people, The Associated Press (AP) reported. Pittsburgh is a rural New England town that lies adjacent to the Canadian province of Quebec.
