Members of drug cartel Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) killed 25 Mexican National Guard members across six attacks after the country’s special forces killed the cartel’s leader, the Associated Press (AP) reported Monday.

The Mexican military killed CJNG leader Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, also known as “El Mencho,” during an operation Sunday after a shootout at his Jalisco home in which eight cartel members were killed, according to the AP. The Metropolitan Police said officers arrested Britain’s former ambassador to the United States, Peter Mandelson, on suspicion of misconduct in public office in relation to the Epstein case.

London officers arrested Lord Mandelson, 72, Monday, on the same grounds as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, according to CNBC. Prior to his arrest, the police were investigating Mandelson’s alleged ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The news outlet reported that Mandelson’s name was not officially mentioned in police reports, a standard in Britain, but images of police escorting Mandelson from his home surfaced Monday.

Police found a stack of notes at a California residence that appeared to threaten a “violent incident” after a 20-year-old man allegedly attempted to enter a Catholic Church during Ash Wednesday mass while armed with a loaded gun.

Brian Richard Girardot Jr. was charged with possessing a firearm within a school zone, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of California Eric Grant said in a press release. On Feb. 18, Girardot Jr. dropped his younger relative off at St. Mary Parish School, where he was previously a student, according to court documents. Olympic alpine ski legend Lindsey Vonn said she nearly lost her leg and was forced to undergo a blood transfusion after suffering a horrifying injury.

Vonn shared an Instagram video Monday saying she experienced the “most extreme and painful and challenging injury I’ve ever faced in my entire life times a hundred” following her crash at the games. Legendary actor Robert De Niro cried while espousing alarmist rhetoric about President Donald Trump to MS NOW host Nicolle Wallace during a Monday episode of “The Best People with Nicolle Wallace.”

Wallace asked De Niro why he was “always about lifting up everybody” around him during the podcast. Claire Lai, the daughter of Chinese political prisoner Jimmy Lai, is urging American-born skier Eileen Gu to bring attention to Jimmy Lai’s case.
