Authorities in Tucson, Arizona, arrested several minors Tuesday on charges related to the burglary of a city gun store, according to local media.
The Pima County Sheriff's Department stated that the juveniles were involved in an Oct. 8 burglary at SNG Tactical during which a vehicle was rammed into the gun store, KVOA TV, a Tucson-area TV station reported Tuesday. The burglaries at federally-licensed firearms dealers (FFLs) had prompted at least one to place his truck in a blocking position to prevent ramming attacks at his store. John Petrush, the owner of John's Guns and Ammo in Tucson, told the station that a local police officer recommended the measure since one of the shops targeted was located very near Petrush's store. Petrush also predicted that police would find the perpetrators in an Oct. 9 report by KVOA regarding the burglaries.
"They're always going to slip somewhere, whether it be a camera that catches them or just somebody walking by that's seen something, Petrush said. "And if they come and say something, the likelihood is more so of them getting caught."
Pima County sheriff's deputies and agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) worked on the investigation. Possession of a stolen firearm is a federal crime and can lead to a ten-year sentence in federal prison.
Prior to the Oct. 8 burglary at SNG Tactical, burglars used a vehicle to ram into Elite Guns and Ammo on Oct. 5, where they stole firearms, according to KVOA.com, an incident that had the store's owner saying he was "done" and would be going out of business.
