Golden State Warriors players struggled to contain their laughter during an unexpected rendition of the national anthem by a gay singer.
Thursday night's game against the Miami Heat at the Chase Center took an unexpected turn when gay singer Jason Brock belted out a very different version of the song. With a huge smile and some exaggerated facial expressions, Brock elongated the word "proud" in the nation's anthem, and whipped out a tiny Pride flag instead of waving an American flag.
The players couldn't stop laughing and the internet quickly erupted with comments ranging from mockery to outrage.
The Warriors’ anthem singer turned The Star-Spangled Banner into a Pride flag photo op.

Welcome to the NBA. 🤡 pic.twitter.com/GhFE5CGV0s
Brock could barely contain his own excitement when he reached the line "What so proudly we hailed," which was precisely the moment players and fans appeared both stunned and confused.
Some appeared shifty and uncomfortable, others were seen giggling at the odd rendition, and online fans were not having it.
Many called this a blatantly disrespectful display.
You cannot be serious!!!

You lose all legitimacy when you do something like that. The National Anthem is a moment of respect for our country our flag and what it has stood for for 250 years.

You holding up your little Pride flag while singing is an insult to hundreds of thousands who gave their lives…
Another person said, "Get this shit out of here, this isn't the WNBA," seemingly referencing the recent WNBA championship series, where players and coaching staffs from both teams refused to remain on the court during the national anthem.
