U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested a violent illegal alien who re-entered the country after being deported twice.
ICE apprehended Serferino Trinidad Ortega, a criminal illegal alien from Mexico, during a targeted enforcement operation, according to documents obtained by the Daily Caller. (RELATED: Trump Zeroes In On Immigration As Midterms Near)
Ortega's criminal history includes convictions for two counts of cruelty toward his wife, two counts of driving under the influence of liquor, battery, assaulting a police officer, and obstructing a police officer.
When asked about Ortega's arrest, ICE Assistant Director for Public Affairs Micah Bock told The Caller, "Any illegal alien ICE finds will be deported. ICE is prioritizing Americans' safety, and that starts with removing these violent criminals from our communities."
Serferino Trinidad Ortega first illegally entered the United States in 2002 and was ordered to leave the country by an immigration judge.
He was deported in October of that year but later re-entered the country at an unknown date and location. Ortega was deported a second time in August 2014 before illegally entering the U.S. for a third time.
During the targeted enforcement operation on Oct. 18, officers attempted to arrest Ortega, but he allegedly refused to comply with several lawful commands. He then attempted to evade arrest by barricading himself underneath his vehicle, according to the documents.

After officers were finally able to detain him, they determined that Ortega was an illegal immigrant with no legal status allowing him to remain in the United States.
Ortega complained of head pain following the arrest and was transported to a hospital for further evaluation. (RELATED: DOJ Investigating Corey Lewandowski Over Alleged Profiteering At DHS)
After being medically cleared by hospital staff, Ortega was transferred to ICE custody, where he remains pending reinstatement of his prior removal order to Mexico, the Caller has learned.
