The liberal group known as the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) doesn't like Trump.
Their most recent grievance is that Trump is challenging the current interpretation of the 14th Amendment, which gives birthright citizenship to literally anyone who is born on U.S. soil, which has led to decades of "birth tourism."

I look forward to the Catholics calling England and most other nations immoral for the same laws.
A Southern Baptist lawyer decided to go to bat for the liberal Catholics, because of course that's a thing that would happen in 2026.
Martens is actually a fellow with the SBC's Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission. A big-wig in the Convention. But I'm told there's no liberal drift there.
The issue with birthright citizenship, as many other Christians have pointed out, is that it allows mass numbers of foreigners to flood a country without assimilating, claim the benefits of citizenship, then remake the country in their own image. This will inevitably erase the heritage, most notably the Christian heritage, of Western nations that are facilitating their own destruction.
