President Trump on Friday blasted Barack Hussein Obama for dropping charges against Somali Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, aka Ilhan Omar, back in 2016 after they discovered evidence that she
married her own brother to commit immigration fraud.
It was revealed by sources familiar with the current investigation that "Ilhan Omar" is a fake alias used by Ilhan Nur Said Elmi to obtain citizenship in the year 2000, live in the country illegally, and run for office. Nur Said Elmi her real name, is also the same name as her brother/husband, sister, and late father.
According to The New York Times, "Several current and former law enforcement officials said an Obama-era investigation found some evidence that Ms. Omar had entered into a sham marriage with a man suspected of being her brother."
Trump likely knew this long ago during his first term when he frequently attacked Omar for marrying her brother.
"Well, they confirmed it, and then they didn't want to do anything with it," Trump said when asked about the New York Times' reporting and her recent interview, where she said, "Not to my knowledge," in response to a question about whether or not she married her own brother.
"So, they sort of dropped it, which is not surprising, knowing him, Barack Hussein Obama. It's a serious problem."
He then likened the investigation to the case in Alaska with a phony decoy candidate in the Senate race against Senator Dan Sullivan, claiming they go "hand in hand" and teasing viewers with a potential surprise.
"And when you look at Alaska, what's going on out there, that's pretty serious," he said.
"I think they go hand in hand. You watch." WATCH:
This comes as the Ilhan Omar criminal fraud investigation remains ongoing and, according to the New York Times, involves "false statements and fraud in immigration paperwork, as well as a general conspiracy charge."
It was also recently revealed that on Ilhan Omar's sham marriage documents, she was confused over which of her names to use, potentially providing prosecutors with more evidence on the fraud charges.
