A newlywed who married her husband days before Halloween has lost him due to a fatal epileptic seizure just over two weeks later.
Sadie Ferreri, an Arizona resident, has faced the tragic loss of her young husband, Joe Hernandez, 25, who died from an epileptic seizure on November 4, only 18 days after their wedding.
'My biggest fear came true, losing the love of my life. He battled with epilepsy for 8 years, as long as I've known him. I did everything for him but still feel that I've failed,' Ferreri wrote in a Facebook statement.
The morning of November 4, Hernandez experienced a seizure but continued his routine as normal and went to work, according to a GoFundMe. Ferreri picked up her husband after his shift and he took a nap at home.
When Ferreri checked on Hernandez a few hours later, he was found unresponsive, the fundraising page said.
'There was nothing that the paramedics could do by the time they got there. We believe he had another seizure, but this one was fatal,' Ferreri's mother, Mandy Ferreri, wrote on the page.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 'the risk of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) is a major concern.'

Experts have estimated that 'for every 1,000 U.S. adults with epilepsy, one may die from SUDEP each year,' according to CDC reports.
At this time, there are no medical reports available to confirm if Hernandez's cause of death was officially categorized as SUDEP.
Family, friends and supporters of the couple have shared their reactions to the news of his passing on social media as they were left 'devastated and in utter shock.'
'Sadie…my heart breaks for you today. This is not how I imagined your next chapter...I will forever cherish the time spent with you all, the games we played with your friends, the karaoke, your vows and your special dance with Joe as husband and wife. Just looking at you both I could tell how much you loved one another,' a family member of Hernandez commented.
Others described his death as 'tragic and heartbreaking.'
'My life will never be the same....my heart broke losing you,' Renee Hernandez, Joe's mother, wrote in multiple posts to her social media.
