The Alexander brothers' secret lives behind bars: Bizarre group rituals, famous new friends and prison alliances... as family source reveals terrifying next fear after gruesome attack

The Alexander brothers' secret lives behind bars: Bizarre group rituals, famous new friends and prison alliances... as family source reveals terrifying next fear after gruesome attack

The reality of spending the next three decades behind bars began to sink in for the Alexander brothers the minute they were led out of a Manhattan federal courtroom on Tuesday evening.

Oren and Tal, formerly two of the country's top luxury real estate magnates, and their brother Alon were 'somber' as they were escorted into the holding area at the Southern District Court of New York after being convicted of sex trafficking, according to a family source.

During sentencing, the judge told them their parents would likely never see them as free men again and that their children would one day have to confront the painful truth about their fathers.

After settling back into their cells, the three men immediately reached out to their parents, who the brothers instructed not to come to sentencing this week to spare them the 'heartache', said Juda Engelmayer, the brothers' communications strategist.

Twins Alon and Oren, 39, then called their wives, who they had also told to steer clear from court.

Since their incarceration in December 2024, the brothers have been regularly visited by family who travel from their hometown of Miami to New York City, where the siblings moved in wealthy circles and threw extravagant parties.

'Between the parents, their wives and their children, every week there is at least one visitor if not more,' said Engelmayer.

For nearly two years, the siblings have been held at New York's Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

More accustomed to a life of private jets and mansions, the three brothers now wait to see which federal prison they are sent to after they were each sentenced to 30 years.

'The families are coping the best they can,' said Engelmayer. 'They're hoping that the brothers get placed in an institution closer to Miami - whether in Tallahassee or somewhere else in Florida, so they're able to see them more often.'

Another issue being weighed by prison chiefs is whether the brothers should be separated into different facilities.

Judge Valerie Caproni has recommended they be housed separately, noting they act as 'bad influences on one another.'

The family argues that keeping them together would offer greater protection.

'I think the Bureau of Prisons is thinking more proactively and the brothers are safer together as a unit, rather than being separated,' Engelmayer said.

The question of whether the brothers should remain together has taken on added significance following an attempted prison attack.

Engelmayer told the Daily Mail the brothers had been working on computers in the library when another inmate rushed into the area.

The inmate had allegedly harassed them previously but was tackled by an officer and sprayed with pepper spray before he could reach them. Neither brother was injured.

The incident nevertheless left them shaken. 'They were jarred, but they've learned to manage and to maintain situational awareness,' Engelmayer said.

A prison source with regular contact with the brothers told the Daily Mail he believes they were targeted for extortion.

There are concerns that separating the brothers could leave them isolated and at risk of further confrontations.

Engelmayer described the brothers as a tight unit who looked out for one another, despite having very different personalities.

The lawyer said Alon is the most sensitive of the three, while Tal is more mission-oriented and Oren has a natural inclination towards leadership.

However prosecutors portrayed a darker picture of them as a group, describing them as a trio whose social lives, wealth and access to women intertwined and who enabled and encouraged one another's sexual violence.

Among their biggest successes was their involvement in the sale of a $240million penthouse on Central Park South, which was then the most expensive residential property ever sold in the US. Alon, meanwhile, was an executive in the family business.

The brothers were formidable networkers who cultivated relationships with the super-rich from New York to Miami and were pictured with celebrities like Ivanka Trump.

They have also begun building relationships inside prison.

'They've found useful alliances,' said Engelmayer.

A prison selfie surfaced in July 2026 showing convicted sex trafficker Oren Alexander posing with jailed fraudster David Motovich.

The brothers also know Luigi Mangione, who is awaiting trial over the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, said Engelmayer.

Born to Israeli-American parents and raised in a traditional Jewish household, the brothers have also been reconnecting with their faith behind bars. On the night of sentencing, they prayed.
'They prayed for their family's well-being, prayed to be able to help to raise their kids [from afar] and see the kids' milestones grow,' said Engelmayer.

'And they prayed for their own safety.'

'They're looking toward towards religion and God a lot more and considering their place in the universe a lot more lately than they had been before,' he added.

The next morning, the brothers were visited by Rabbi Chaim Pollock, who was in the courtroom during sentencing and who visits them regularly in prison.

The trio now tries to observe Shabbat every Saturday, reading prayers from a prayer book and studying the weekly Torah portion inside the detention center.

Oren, who wore a yarmulke at sentencing, compared himself and his siblings to the biblical story of Abraham and Sarah in his statement during sentencing, which tells of a couple being given a new beginning later in life.

'They are not saying that they are doing that,' Engelmayer said, 'but they are saying God even gave these people a chance late in life to start over.

'They keep kosher. They do the best they can. You know, where you know to the extent that the prison accommodates them, the vending machines have kosher food,' Engelmayer said.

'I don't know how much kosher accommodations the kitchen has, but they work around that if it's fish vegetables cheese, but they won't eat meat.'

The brothers spend most of their time studying law books and preparing to appeal their convictions, Engelmayer said.

'They have always been hard workers in business and in industry and I think they have replaced business and industry with their legal issues.

'They have been focused on reading through law books, statute books and other lawsuits and are highly focused. That is how they are keeping their minds clear.'

The brothers have continued to maintain their innocence, denying that they drugged, raped or sexually assaulted anyone, despite being convicted on multiple federal sex offences.

In their statements at sentencing, they expressed regret for their past behavior towards women, including philandering and recreational drug use, but stopped short of admitting to the crimes for which they were convicted.

On top of their prison sentences, there will also be a significant financial reckoning.

The brothers have already been ordered to pay fines of $300,000 each, with Tal facing an additional $50,000 penalty and Oren another $50,000. The amount they must pay in restitution to victims is still to be determined.

The brothers also face more than two dozen civil lawsuits brought by women who accuse them of rape and sexual assault, which the brothers continue to deny.
