A boy, 11, reported missing on Monday has been found dead near the Broken River at Shepparton in northern Victoria.
Victoria Police said it was first called to the area at about 5pm on Monday after reports that the boy had jumped into the river and had not resurfaced.
A search of the river was then launched by Victoria Police Search and Rescue alongside Water Police, SES and uniform officers.
The boy was located deceased on Tuesday morning, Victoria Police said.
Ex-Collingwood player Chris Egan shared on social media that the boy was 'his little cousin'.
'Friends, family, footy clubs in Shep, please come out and join the search,' Mr Egan posted on Tuesday morning before emergency services found his body.
'We need everyone right now.'
The search for the child was called off at 11.40am on Tuesday, with the Herald Sun reporting that cries of despair rang out among members of Shepparton's Indigenous community who had spent the morning searching bushland along the river.
Police confirmed the death was not being treated as suspicious and that a report would be prepared for the coroner.
