A California man has been charged with federal firearm-related offenses after he was apprehended on Sunday at the Trump National Golf Club in Los Angeles, two days before President Donald Trump was scheduled to arrive, reportedly for an RNC fundraiser.

Jeanine John Taele, 38, of Downey was charged with several felonies including second-degree robbery, receiving a large-capacity magazine and possession of a short-barreled rifle or shotgun, a felony with a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

Taele was ordered to stay away from the golf course and not possess weapons. His bail was set at $250,000.

A spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney's Office told Newsweek Wednesday that Taele remained in state custody at a downtown Los Angeles jail and has not yet been transferred to federal authorities.

Comey was fired by Trump on May 9, 2017.

According to an FBI document dated May 16, 2017, the Bureau was opening an investigation "based on an articulable factual basis that reasonably indicates that President Donald J. Trump may be or has been, wittingly or unwittingly, involved in activities for or on behalf of the Government of the Russian Federation which may constitute violations of federal criminal law or threats to the national security of the United States."

The goal of the investigation, which was code-named Oxferd Comma, "is to determine if President Trump is or was directed by, controlled by, and/or coordinated activities with, the Russian Federation in a manner constituting a threat to the national security of the United States and/or a violation of federal criminal statutes," the document states.

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee voted on Thursday to recommend former Covid czar Anthony Fauci be held in contempt of Congress.

The vote follows Fauci invoking the Fifth Amendment 111 times during a committee hearing last week on the pandemic response and the origins of the Covid virus.

The vote by the committee, which is chaired by Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul, initiates a process that would result in the Justice Department considering whether to charge him with a crime.

Whether the Justice Department does take up the matter is complicated by Joe Biden'a auto-pen pardon of Fauci for any crimes he might have committed dating back to 2014.

Whether Fauci was covered by the pardon during the hearing and the mix of the pardon while pleading the Fifth Amendment is at the center of the legal debate.
