Ya done messed up, Fauci!
Every Republican on the committee voted to hold Fauci in contempt.
Every Democrat voted no.
(You'll notice the "based" Democrat Fetterman, when the chips were down, sided with his Democrat colleagues, as he always does.)
Normally, this would go to a full Senate vote, but Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) framed it as a referral, so now the ball goes over to the Justice Department to decide if it wants to prosecute Fauci. The U.S. attorney general is only required to present charges to a grand jury if the full Senate votes to hold someone in contempt (per 2 U.S.C. § 192 and § 194).
But with the new AG being in limbo, it's not clear when the DOJ would press charges, or if it would press charges. That is entirely up to how much pressure the Trump admin feels from the American people to wage war against Tony Fauci.
Once again, it's not nothing.
