Democrats are preparing to drag Donald Trump's private chatbot habit with Elon Musk into a congressional hearing room.
House Democrats are laying the groundwork to investigate how the president leaned on Musk's Grok before American forces snatched Nicolás Maduro out of Caracas, according to the Washington Post.
The Post reported that Trump's use of the AI chatbot to plan the military operation is one of the earliest targets on the list, according to two people familiar with the plans.
The sessions ran in the Oval Office in December 2025, when Musk slipped back into the White House for a clandestine meeting roughly seven months after walking away from DOGE.
Trump spent hours quizzing Grok about his presidency and his legacy, an official who was in the room told Time magazine.
One of his questions was how Venezuelans would react if the United States seized their president.
Grok told him Maduro was a repressive dictator loathed at home whose fall many Venezuelans would cheer, according to that official.
US special forces took Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores from a fortified compound in early January. Soon after, crowds poured into the streets of Caracas, and Trump came away convinced the chatbot was 'ingenious.'

Representatives Jamie Raskin and Robert Garcia wrote to Trump in October demanding he preserve every prompt he has fed into Grok, ChatGPT and Claude.
Their inquiry specifically is centered on any point in time Trump spent on the AI bots while carrying out his official duties. Lawmakers also want to know every answer the machines gave him during this period.

Raskin and Garcia accused Trump of violating the Constitution, bypassing the branch of government that declares war. Their letter states that he 'consulted Grok, but not Congress.'
They warned that allowing presidential decisions to be influenced by corporate chatbots exposes the country to national security risks.
Garcia, the California Democrat who inherits the House Oversight gavel and its subpoena power in January, posted two words on election night: 'Lawyer up.'
Democrats flipped both chambers on Tuesday, taking 54 Senate seats and more than 250 House seats in a rout that hands Democrats investigative muscle for the final two years of Trump's term.
