As the search for the presumably abducted Nancy Guthrie, the mother of “Today” host Savannah Guthrie, drags through its third week, a Tucson couple reported finding a pair of blood-stained gloves not far from Guthrie’s Catalina Foothills home, where she was last seen on the night of January 31.
The couple, who requested anonymity, was driving along North Campbell Avenue when they spotted what appeared to be a glove on the side of the road. Upon closer inspection without touching the items, they identified two black gloves approximately 10 feet apart, according to a report from local outlet KVOA.
One glove showed signs of ripping and contained stains resembling blood, concentrated around the wrist and pointer finger areas. In addition, a rock beneath one of the gloves bore what looked like a dried blood droplet.
“Sure enough it was a black glove in the desert it appeared to have looked like it was ripped. It also appeared to like it looked like it had blood on it,” the wife recounted in a statement to the outlet. “The blood appeared to be towards the wrist side of the glove and on the pointer finger. It looked like this was like used for something that could’ve possibly been what they were looking for.”
“And also from the glove it looked like a blood drop on a rock underneath the glove was like dried blood or something,” the husband added.
Upon finding the gloves, the couple snapped a few photos before contacting the Pima County Sheriff’s Office, which has been investigating the disappearance. “We didn’t move it or touch it. We immediately were like we have to do something. So I was like I will call the sheriff department,” he said.

When asked about the finding, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office declined to provide specifics but confirmed that multiple gloves found near the home were being reviewed.
Separately, a glove recovered approximately two miles from Guthrie’s home was tested for DNA, which did not yield matches in the FBI’s Combined DNA Index System (CODIS).
That glove visually resembles those worn by a masked individual captured on doorbell camera footage at Guthrie’s front door on the night of her disappearance. The footage depicts a man, estimated at 5 feet 9 to 10 inches tall with an average build, wearing gloves, a gun holster, and a backpack.

Blood discovered on Guthrie’s porch has been confirmed as hers through DNA testing. Authorities believe she was targeted and abducted from her home, possibly by multiple individuals, and may still be in the local area.
No suspects have been identified or arrested, and no vehicles linked to the incident have been found as of this report.
As the investigation enters its fourth week, nearly 40,000 tips have been reviewed by hundreds of personnel from local law enforcement and the FBI.
While resources may be scaled back due to the absence of new leads, the effort remains ongoing. The FBI has doubled the reward for information leading to Guthrie’s location to $100,000.
