Hunter Biden, son of former President Joe Biden, has revealed that his father's stage 4 prostate cancer has further metastasized to his bones, worsening his condition.

Although Joe Biden's office officially disclosed over a year ago that he was diagnosed with Stage 4 prostate cancer that had already metastasized to his bones, Hunter shared during an interview with BBC's "Newsnight" that his father's cancer has progressed.

The former first son emphasized that the cancer has spread further beyond the bones and that the condition has become increasingly painful and debilitating.

"The cancer has spread, metastasized into his bones and further," he revealed. "It's very painful and it's very debilitating in many respects."

 

Joe Biden announced back in May 2025 that he had been diagnosed with an "aggressive form" of stage 4 prostate cancer that had spread to his bones. At that time, doctors classified it with a Gleason score of 9, (Grade Group 5), indicating the most severe of the category.

Hunter most recently shared that witnessing his father's decline has been deeply painful for the entire Biden family.

"It's really sad to watch," Hunter said. "The only thing that I'd say about my dad, about his health right now, is I wish he would complain more, because it's not good."

 

The former president has reportedly undergone radiation treatment and hormone therapy to manage the disease.

While the advanced nature of the stage 4 diagnosis suggests the cancer was already developing while Biden was still in office, former First Lady Jill Biden previously declared that the diagnosis came as a complete shock after he left the White House.

 

"Well, you know the doctors said that, according to the American Urological Association, that men over 70 don't need a PSA, a blood test, anymore because it's a slow-growing cancer … I do feel we had amazing care in the White House, but somehow that was missed," Jill stated at the time.
