Trump’s Gaza Chief Begs Netanyahu to Stop Assassination Campaign

Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected pleas by Donald Trump's Gaza peace envoy to stop bombing the enclave.

Nickolay Mladenov, representing Mr Trump's Board of Peace, held a tense meeting with the Israeli prime minister on Monday after the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) killed dozens of Palestinians in air strikes over the weekend.

The strikes followed the publication of the Board's new weapons decommissioning agreement with Hamas, which also included a "phased Israeli withdrawal" from Gaza.

Israel has remained defiant. According to Israeli media, Mr Netanyahu refused to end Israel's assassination campaign against Hamas members involved in the massacre on Oct 7 2023.

The prime minister also signalled that Israeli troops would not withdraw from Gaza in the manner stipulated under the new deal.

Israel later killed two Palestinians in a strike on Gaza.
