'Controlling' woman who 'faked pregnancy, bombarded ex-lover with messages and posted revenge porn online appears in court

A ‘controlling’ woman faked a pregnancy, threatened to throw away her ex-lover’s wedding ring and bombarded him with messages when he ended their relationship, a court heard.

Lisa Roberts, 37, is accused of stalking and sharing an intimate video of her victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Magistrates in Mold were told that, over a period of six months, between December 2023 and June 2024, Roberts engaged in ‘controlling and coercive behaviour’ with her boyfriend.

She repeatedly accused him of being unfaithful, kept tabs on his mobile phone and social media accounts, prevented him from seeing relatives and threatened to harm his son and herself when he ended the relationship, it is claimed.

Later, between June 2024 and January last year, it is alleged Roberts bombarded her ex with messages on social media, as well as via WhatsApp and emails; took his wedding ring and threatened to throw it away; turned up at his home and son’s school uninvited; made malicious reports to his boss and even called and emailed the church on the day of his son’s Holy Communion.

She is also accused of assaulting her former lover, threatening to harm herself and pretending to be pregnant with his child in posts on social media, which caused him ‘serious alarm or distress.’

On June 8, 2024, Roberts also shared an ‘intimate’ film of her ex-boyfriend without his permission, it is alleged.

Today blonde Roberts, of Connah’s Quay, North Wales, denied three charges of coercive and controlling behaviour, stalking and sharing the ‘humiliating’ film when she appeared at Mold Magistrates Court.

Adam Warner, prosecuting, said :’The Crown's position is these matters are not suitable for summary trial. There's an extremely large amount of material in this case.’

The chairman of the bench granted Roberts, who appeared in court dressed in smart black trousers and a pin-stripe shirt, unconditional bail. She will appear before Mold Crown Court on March 20.
