Earlier this morning, news broke that two Minnesota Senators, John Hoffman and Mellissa Hortman, plus their spouses, were shot in their homes.

Sadly, we can now confirm that Melissa Hortman has been killed in what is being labeled an assassination:

Here’s a quick summary of what we know so far:
Minnesota Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman (D) and her husband Mark were shot and killed in what authorities believe was a politically motivated assassination.
The shooting occurred early Saturday morning at their home in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.
ADVERTISEMENTThousands of residents were ordered to shelter in place as police and SWAT teams search for the suspect, who impersonated a law enforcement officer and fled the scene.
State Sen. John Hoffman (D) and his wife were also shot the same morning at their home just 8 miles away. Both survived but are in serious condition.
President Trump was briefed on the incident and condemned the violence, calling it a targeted attack on lawmakers. He stated that the DOJ and FBI are investigating, and justice will be served.
Trump added: “Such horrific violence will not be tolerated… God Bless the great people of Minnesota.”
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) described Hortman as a friend and said federal, state, and local agencies are fully committed to the investigation.
Law enforcement warned the public not to trust lone officers at the door and emphasized that real officers will work in pairs during this crisis.
Officials said the suspect betrayed the public trust by impersonating police, and security is being increased for at-risk elected officials.
The motive is still under investigation, but officials are treating the incident as a serious threat to political leaders and public safety.

Both Democrat Senators recently broke from their party to vote for repealing healthcare for illegals.
Many are now speculating that may have been a motivating factor in the attacks:

Here is Hortman speaking about her vote just days ago:
Rep. Melissa Hortman announced she was voting to strip criminal aliens of healthcare.
Listen to how worried she sounded.
This morning she was ass*ssinated.

However, ChatGPT claims only Hortman voted with Republicans, not Hoffman:
No, that claim is inaccurate. Here’s what really happened:
Melissa Hortman (House DFL Leader) did vote in favor of repealing the state’s program that provided healthcare coverage to undocumented adult immigrants. This was part of a broader Minnesota budget deal reached in May. However, the program still continues to cover undocumented children until December 31, 2025
John Hoffman (DFL State Senator), contrary to some headlines, did not vote to repeal any such healthcare program alongside Republicans. Reports suggesting he joined that vote are false
To summarize:
Melissa Hortman did vote to cut adult undocumented immigrants off the state insurance program.
ADVERTISEMENTThe story that John Hoffman “joined Republicans” to do the same is incorrect — he voted against it.
My friend MJTruth sets forth the three logical conclusions you could draw about what motivated these shootings:
Three thoughts come to mind why these Dems were shot..
1. Blame MAGA, try to enflame “No Kings” Riots
2. Distract from 250th Mil Parade. Flood headlines with Democrat melancholy
3. Messages sent. Fall in line.

Very well said, I think that’s spot on.
We’ll continue to bring you updates on this breaking story.
