On Tuesday, MRC senior research analyst Bill D’Agostino joined Steve Bannon and Eric Bolling on Real America’s Voice to discuss the latest NewsBusters study of the broadcast Trump coverage. D’Agostino slammed the corporate media for attempting to “pull the wool over Americans’ eyes, as they aid Democrats in flooding the border and hollowing out the economy.”
He first outlined the study’s findings, namely the 92 percent negative coverage of Trump on ABC, CBS, and NBC evening newscasts during the first 100 days of the administration:
“If you’re watching broadcast news, you get 92% negative coverage of Trump… It’s actually worse than the first 100 days during his first term. That was only 89% negative. But if you compare that to 56% positive coverage for Biden during his first 100 days, it paints a pretty vivid picture.”
D’Agostino pointed out that among the three most-covered topics — DOGE, immigration, and tariffs — the coverage was even worse: 93% negative for tariffs and immigration, and a whopping 97% negative coverage of DOGE.
If you look at what those three topics are, it’s restoring our manufacturing, it’s preventing an invasion at the southern border — and through other means, at this point, too — and it’s dismantling the administrative state… So clearly what this is, from the media at least, it’s a backlash against the attempt from America to preserve its own interests.
He continued: “The media, in covering these topics that way, are basically saying that they are opposed to America’s interests, and they want to see it slowly crumble away like it did over the last for years in the Biden administration.”
Bannon recalled the standing ovation that MSNBC host Eugene Daniels had received at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner for insisting that the press were not the enemy of the people. “Would you say, in fact, by their actions, not their words, they are the enemies of the people?” Bannon inquired.
D’Agostino agreed: “Yeah, absolutely. This coverage that we’re talking about here is just negativity on Trump, right? And some of his policies. But if you look at the way they actually handle Americans, it’s the exact same thing.”
As evidence, he pointed to a recent NewsBusters study by director of media analysis Geoff Dickens. That study found that the broadcast networks had spent 143 minutes on their morning and evening shows bemoaning the plight of a deported MS-13 gang member, but only spared twelve seconds for the murder of a Maryland woman by an illegal alien.
“They care more about an illegal gangbanger, alleged wife beater, alleged human trafficker, than they do about an innocent woman that was murdered by just that kind of illegal alien,” D’Agostino pointed out.
