Scooter Rental Company Declares Pride Road Mural ‘No Go Area

Scooter Rental Company Declares Pride Road Mural ‘No Go Area

No freedom of movement or expression when LGBTQ symbols are involved

Following three children being arrested and jailed last week in Spokane for leaving scuff marks on a pride road mural with their scooters, Lime scooter rental company has declared that it will make the area a “no go zone.”

Here’s the back story:

Kids ARRESTED AND JAILED For Leaving Scooter Skid Marks On ‘Pride’ Road Mural

Just when you thought this couldn’t get any more clownish, the scooter rental company says it will remotely shut off via GPS any vehicle that dates to venture too close to the precious pride road markings.

The National Desk reports that Lime, which also hires out bikes, created the “no go zone” two days after the ‘hate crime’ incident.

Lime's website noted that “no go zones” are “indicated by red shading and a restricted symbol on the map.” Anyone who enters such an area will “gradually come to a stop,” with the scooter locking up and only restarting when the rider walks it back out of the zone.

The company’s Director of Government Relations Hayden Harvey issued a statement noting that the company “condemns these vile acts in no uncertain terms.”

“At a time when our teams at Lime are beginning pride celebrations around the globe, it is disturbing to see the hate taking place in Spokane,” he continued.

“We will not let the hateful few spoil the joy of Pride Month in Spokane, and are grateful for those working to make Spokane more welcoming for all,” the statement concluded.

Rather than arresting anyone who goes near it with a vehicle, or shutting off their vehcle remotely like in some kind of dystopian movie, maybe the answer is not to paint rainbow dawbings all over the road?
