You Vote: Following the protest and riots in LA over the ICE raids, what do you expect will happen?

The Pentagon on Monday confirmed that it will send 700 Marines to Los Angeles temporarily, in order to help handle unruly protests that have broken out in the Southern California city over several federal immigration-enforcement sweeps.

The confirmation comes after President Donald Trump activated the National Guard to protect federal properties during the protests over the weekend. There are expected to be 2,100 guardsmen in total.

The United States Northern Command said it would deploy the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division to help protect federal property and personnel, including federal agents. The Marines are currently stationed at Twentynine Palms.

The Marines are "trained in de-escalation, crowd control, and standing rules for the use of force," and are intended to give the National Guard "adequate numbers of forces to provide continuous coverage of the area in support of the lead federal agency."
