Senate confirms Trump's ambassadors to Italy, Turkey, UK

The Senate confirmed President Trump's nominees for U.S. ambassadors to Italy, Turkey, and the United Kingdom.

The three new ambassadors were confirmed by the Senate on Tuesday, The Hill news outlet reported.

Warren Stephens was confirmed as U.S. ambassador to the UK, Tom Barrack as ambassador to Turkey, and Tilman Feritta as ambassador to Italy. All three men are billionaires and generous GOP donors.

Stephens was confirmed in a 59-39 vote, compared to Barrack's 60-36 and Feritta's 83-14.

Senate Republican Conference Chairman Tom Cotton, of Arkansas, called Stephens a “family man, businessman, philanthropist and patriot.”

“He is the right person to lead our strong, special relationship with the United Kingdom,” Cotton said.
