Father of alleged driver dropping off face masks for LA rioters: 'What the f-ck are you doing?'

The father of a driver who allegedly dropped off "bionic shield" face masks to rioters in Los Angeles said when he saw a picture of his son, "What the f-ck are you doing?"

The FBI on Thursday confirmed that it arrested a driver who allegedly dropped off "bionic shield" face masks to anti-immigration enforcement rioters in Los Angeles on Tuesday. The man, identified as Alejandro "Alex" Theodoro Orellana, was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit civil disorders.

Orellana's father, Francisco Orellana, disapproved of his son's actions but said that he is "not a criminal," The New York Post reported. Francisco Orellana and his family were arrested during an FBI raid of their home while the agents were looking for the younger Orellana.

The son is a Marine veteran, UPS worker and shop steward for the Teamsters Union who has been active in social justice causes for years.

His father, a construction technician who moved to the states in the 1970s and is a U.S. citizen, told The Post that he didn't know how his son got involved in the protests, suggesting he may have been in the truck because someone asked him for a favor.

“My son is a good boy … he’s not a criminal. He doesn’t have a bad record, he’s clear,” the father said.

“I saw the picture [of Alex in the truck], which my sister-in-law sent to my wife. I said, ‘What the f-ck are you doing? Why are you doing that?'”

He said his son told him, “Papa, I don’t think this is illegal,” but the father was doubtful.
