MARK IVANYO: Karmelo Anthony and the lucrative market for anti-white hate

The Anthony debacle should give conservatives a signal that ignoring these cultural problems will result in imminent peril.

On Monday, Karmelo Anthony walked out of court after being charged with murder in the stabbing death of Austin Metcalf. As a result of the tragic incident, his family has grown much richer.

Anthony raised over $430,000 for his "legal defense fund" since the killing. Because Anthony is black and his alleged victim was white, thousands flocked to give donations to Anthony, making him the new face of the modern racial justice movement.

It's been reported that Anthony's family has opted to use the funds to move into a new home, claiming that they need to move into a posh gated community because of nebulous racist threats against the family.

"This family needs to be able to survive," defense attorney Mike Howard said, according to reporting from Fox 4 KDFW. "There's been a tremendous amount of pressure. At this point, living in a gated community, given everything, the safety of their younger children is very warranted."

Howard spun the narrative that the stabbing was an act of self-defense following Anthony's release, a line of thinking that is quickly gaining traction on social media.

"Every Texan deserves the right to defend themselves when they reasonably fear for their life," he said. "Self-defense is a protection that applies to every one of us. There are two sides to every story."

Anthony was released after his bond was reduced from $1 million to $250,000. His bond was reduced by Texas District Judge Angela Tucker, an African-American woman whose pro-DEI screed has gone viral in the days since her controversial decision.

This news has caused considerable outrage among conservatives, browbeaten for years about the supposed realities of "white privilege," "systemic racism," "historical inequity," and other leftist tropes only to see a massive injustice like this play out before their very eyes.

The most mainstream crowdsourcing platform, GoFundMe, denied Anthony a platform, but GiveSendGo, a popular platform among conservatives, allowed Anthony to raise funds on the platform. They have taken considerable heat for refusing to deplatform Anthony and allowing his family to grow rich from racial grievance.

"People are mad about our stance on allowing the Karmelo Anthony family to run a campaign on GiveSendGo, and I get it; it is a horrible situation," said Jacob Wells, founder of GiveSendGo.

"There are even calls for a boycott, but because I know a similar scenario will happen again for someone on the 'right' and our competitor won't allow them a campaign even though it is a legal endeavor, people will be back to using GiveSendGo because we are the only fundraising platform that truly stands on Freedom and principle," Wells added.

As well-intentioned as Wells' motives may be, his platform – which has been used for laudable purposes in countless instances – has been perverted to provide incentives to monetize anti-white hate. Suppose he continues to platform people like Anthony. In that case, there will inevitably be copycat instances where vicious acts are committed against white people and then given massive financial rewards by the hate-filled mob.

After serial felon George Floyd was deified and made into a national icon in the summer of 2020, that was the moment the nation crossed the Rubicon. Neighborhoods were razed, communities were terrorized, historical icons were disgraced, and these crimes were committed mainly with impunity, with even Republicans acquiescing in many instances. The message was sent that anti-civilizational behavior has no consequences, and the Anthony situation is an example of this new normal.

A depraved market has formed, showing the darker side of libertarianism, to give fame and riches to those who commit gruesome and vicious acts against white people. Academic scribbling from Marxist theorists is used as the justification for these acts, as white people have been labeled as monstrous caricatures. America is on a similar trajectory as South Africa, where farmers are routinely butchered, with authorities looking the other way and painting the victims as oppressors because of their race.

The Anthony debacle should give conservatives a signal that ignoring these cultural problems will result in imminent peril. In this perverse new paradigm, every white person is guilty from birth and worthy of this violence, according to the "No Justice, No Peace" mindset of the new racial justice movement, and any minority who does not concur is a collaborator and a traitor. Market rewards for anti-white violence only hasten the national downslide, and swift government action will be necessary to reverse this process of cultural destruction before it is too late.
