If there is anything to be said about President Trump's cabinet amid his second term, it is that it's practical, innovative, and unorthodox. In government oversight during the Trump era, the United States needs leaders of offices and departments who will usher in a breath of fresh air with trust, transparency, and a rooting out of deep-seated corruption.

Trump's most recent nomination was one of Mr. Paul Ingrassia, a Constitutional scholar, writer, and attorney, to lead the Office of Special Counsel (OSC). Ingrassia's legal acumen and political positions on challenging issues, such as defending Trump's attacks against federal bureaucracy and lawfare, have been a leading reason why he has been and should be nominated to lead this office. The Senate GOP should advocate on his behalf and ensure his nomination is confirmed.

Ingrassia hails from New York as one of Trump's staunchest supporters since 2015 as a lawyer, columnist, and conservative activist during one of the most significant positive shifts for conservatives within the state. Consistently, Ingrassia has titled columns in support of Trump's candidacy and presidential tenure, defended him openly, and made legalistic arguments in his favor on multiple occasions when the President needed it the most.

Over the last few months, Ingrassia has served as the White House Liason for the Department of Homeland Security, learning about how the federal systems work and how to advocate for government efficiency. When the left and moderate neoconservatives say that Ingrassia is unqualified, that could not be any further from the truth.

The GOP wants to prioritize federal systems working for the American people, and Ingrassia emboldens a vision of reducing federal waste, protecting free speech and whistleblowers, and will prioritize the GOP's vision of governmental accountability for the OSC.

The knives have already come out for Ingrassia since Trump announced his nomination, with the media dragging out comments about the ever-annoying January 6th narrative and aligning with figures that the left cannot stand. Paul Ingrassia is not an extremist but rather an advocate against judicial activism and in favor of free speech.

He has taken positions on speaking out against the lawfare of President Trump, pro-life conservatives, and those who are willing to speak out on the most essential social issues of modern times. That is not being some far-right outlier, but instead aligning with exactly what Americans voted for in November.

With the withdrawal of the nomination of Ed Martin as the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, the Senate has already failed once to put in a change agent like the American electorate put them in to do at every level of government. Now, they have the opportunity to do so in a role that will have much less opposition and a lot more room to implement change, as seen in Ingrassia's potential role as head of the OSC.

With his advocacy for issues such as the Hatch Act, whistleblower protection, and transparency in any legal action that the independent agency has to take, Ingrassia leading the OSC could be a needed change that the legal system needs to protect employees and potential whistleblowers to ensure the federal government is being as transparent as humanly possible.

There has been no party or political movement that has advocated for governmental efficiency in the modern political realm as the GOP has since the MAGA movement infiltrated it. The federal government is now more efficient, transparent, and communicative with the public about its work than it ever has been, and Ingrassia's confirmation to lead the Office of Special Counsel will be a firm step in continuing that vision.

Before midterms, the U.S. Senate GOP needs to ensure it has the backing of the MAGA base both in their primary elections, general elections, and their promises to their constituents. Another rejection of a Trump-backed appointment is not what the GOP conference in the Senate needs right now, and Ingrassia has proven that he is up to task for the job.

The Office of Special Counsel holds a vital role in Washington, and Ingrassia is the best change agent that President Trump could have chosen for the position. To continue to deliver on the Trump agenda, the Republican majority of the U.S. Senate needs to confirm Paul Ingrassia and help reform Washington's bureaucracy from the inside out.
