JACK POSOBIEC and EVITA DUFFY: The violent left is no longer even hiding it

“I could hear people saying ‘get him, get him’ from the crowd. The first individual began striking my arms and attempting to hit my face and head, but I defended myself with my arms."

Human Events Daily host Jack Posobiec spoke out about a violent mob attack against him during a union rally outside Union Station in Washington, DC, yesterday saying that the incident was incited by Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), who pointed at him and then failed to de-escalate as members of the crowd swarmed, and assaulted him.

The altercation took place Tuesday during a protest organized by federal union workers affiliated with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), at which Raskin was speaking. Posobiec approached the scene, observing the crowd and filming.

Speaking on Human Events Daily with guest Evita Duffy, Posobiec recounted the moment Raskin turned the crowd against him:

“You saw what happened, this video, Raskin, the union members from IAM just swarming me after he pointed to me in the crowd. Rather than engage in a discussion, he actually called for a protest in the video and rather than respond to anything that I said, he points at me and his union—these individuals swarmed around me and everyone can see what happened, I don’t want to get ahead of the investigation here. Evita, this is clearly an incitement to violence and a situation where, I’ve listened to the video again and again, and I don’t hear for a second if Congressman Raskin says to stop, he never calls for de-escalation or for the violence to end. What is going on here, Evita? What are we to make of this?”

Evita Duffy, co-founder of the Chicago Thinker, responded with alarm:

“Let me just first say that I confirmed before the show, Jack, I’m so glad that [your wife] Tanya wasn't there, or your kids—this is such a serious situation. So dangerous. It seems like people are put in this situation all the time because the Left is a violent movement at its core. There’s a reason that Jamie did not call off these people who were attacking you. We saw this in 2020, American cities were torched. We had billions of dollars in damage, lives lost, Kamala Harris trying to bail out these criminals, Kyle Rittenhouse demonized and prosecuted for self-defense.

"This is anarchy tyranny, and that is so emblematic of the political left—violence is the core of the movement, collectivist revolutions always end in bloodshed because violence is not a flaw of the system, it is the engine that drives it. This is what they do. We even see this more recently with the way they’ve been attacking Teslas—this fiery chaos is the strategy and it doesn’t matter if you are on the political right or left, it doesn’t matter. Eventually this will come for you.

"If you look at what happened in the Soviet Union, when avid communists eventually turned on each other and put themselves in gulags. This is a movement that comes for everyone. No one is safe. It’s frankly terrifying and you got a glimpse of it yesterday.”

According to a police report filed by Posobiec with the US Capitol Police, he exited Union Station at approximately 5:00 PM and encountered the protest. Upon realizing that Rep. Jamie Raskin was speaking, Posobiec shouted, “Jamie, why did you lose the popular vote? Why did you lose every single swing state?”—a reference to Democrats’ poor performance in the 2024 presidential election. In response, Raskin led the crowd in a chant of “USA.”

Moments later, the situation turned violent.

“I stood and listened for a few minutes with the crowd, filming. When Raskin called for protest I asked why he lost the election. At that point, Raskin pointed at me and egged on the crowd, who began swarming me and pushing, pulling me, hitting my phone down, and stealing my work backpack,” Posobiec’s police statement reads.

He added, “I could hear people saying ‘get him, get him’ from the crowd. The first individual began striking my arms and attempting to hit my face and head, but I defended myself with my arms. I tried to hold onto my work backpack but the crowd pulled it open, spilling my jacket, tablet, and a large St. Michael rosary.”

Posobiec noted that “at no point did Raskin ask the crowd to stop assaulting me or to attempt to de-escalate the violence he agitated upon me. At that point, Capitol Police arrived and the crowd receded.”

One suspect was described in the report as a “wide male about 5’7, thick neck, blue shirt, buzzed head, middle-aged.” Other suspects included a middle-aged male in a red shirt with long brown hair, a middle-aged male in a blue shirt with a mustache, and an overweight white male with sunglasses and a backwards baseball cap.

Raskin, who served as the lead impeachment manager during President Trump’s second impeachment trial and as ranking member on the January 6 Select Committee, has been a vocal critic of the president and his supporters. In his speech before the altercation, Raskin declared, “We have a right to organize unions … we’re gonna defend the right to assemble. We know with Dr. King that the greatness of America is the right to protest for what is right.”

“Political violence is never acceptable under any circumstance. Political speech is protected under the First Amendment. Congressman Raskin said that the right to protest peacefully must be respected, yet he didn’t seem to have any respect for it at all… This incident is under investigation. I’ve made my police report and filed it… The IAM, this union, were in communication with the highest levels. There’s a lot more to this that has gone on even outside of what you saw on the video that I can’t get into right now, but it will be made public at the appropriate time," Posobiec said on Wednesday.

Authorities have confirmed the incident remains under active investigation.
