The One, Big, Beautiful Bill would address many of the issues the American voter has their sights set on.
The US House is dithering this week over whether or not to pass the "One, Big, Beautiful Bill," so named by President Donald Trump because of the provisions it contains to revitalize Main Street, boost American families and working people, back American industry, finish the border wall, and create tax plans that don't rip off Americans any more than they really have to.
When Donald Trump won the presidency in 2024, he promised many solutions that the American people trusted him to implement. Whether it be on the economy, trade, foreign relations through diplomacy, or rooting out deep state bureaucracy, President Trump promised to be a productive change agent for the nation. The One, Big, Beautiful Bill would address many of the issues the American voter has their sights set on. The people's House has a bill in chambers right now that would bring the necessary policy to the forefront in terms of legislation that would put America first.
The bill would extend Trump's 2017 tax cut, boost the child tax credit, give breaks for families with new babies, remove taxes on tips and overtime pay, offer an added $4,000 deduction for seniors and put an end to the absurd, pointless green tax incentives. These are the incentives put into place to cut breaks for sustainable energy companies and manufacturers that couldn't make their case in the marketplace and had to rely on government telling people what energy to use and what cars or appliances to buy. Americans don't want to be told what to buy, and they don't want to buy sub-optimal products just because the government thinks they're ideologically better. Americans just want good products, not propaganda.
New work requirements for Medicaid are a controversial aspect to the bill, but one that ensures that people who can work, do work. Those above the poverty line who are on Medicaid would be asked to provide a co-pay for service, like pretty much everyone else. States that cover illegal immigrants on the federally funded program would be penalized and eligibility checks, implemented by the federal government, aim to cut down on fraud.
The White House has also announced the implementation of MAGA baby savings accounts, which are essentially a 401K for babies. "Not only does it increase the child tax credit," said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt during a Monday morning press briefing, "but it also includes MAGA baby savings accounts for children that are born before January 1, 2024, under 8-years-old, US citizens and have at least one parent with a valid social security number. And when this tax provision becomes law, the child will, if the parents seek to do this, be set up with a savings account."
"Essentially, it's a 401 K for a newborn baby and child's relatives," Leavitt continued, "their parents, can contribute up to $5,000 per year of after tax dollars annually to that account, and then later in the baby's life, at age 25, savings account holders can withdraw up to the full balance of the account. Upon reaching 30, the account holders can access the full balance of the account for any purpose desired. So it's a great initiative for new mothers who want to set up the savings account for their children."
For years, Americans have heard about the inequity between rich and poor in the United States, with the wealthy able to save for their children while the poor don't have the infrastructure to do so. This gives parents and families a way to do that. It might not be easy to come up with the money, but if there's a deduction and a tax return, some of that money can go back into the child's fund. There's nothing like knowing you're providing for your child's future, even just a little bit at a time.
This bill also adds the tax deduction for interest on car loans for American made cars which ideally will drive Americans to drive American. The White House touts the plan as creating 15% less in taxes for working class Americans, adding up to $13,000 in additional take home pay. The bill strengthens paid family leave, eliminates the use of Medicaid funds for child sex changes, and encourages family formation.
The One, Big, Beautiful Bill also picks up where Trump probably thought he'd left off for good at the end of his first term: building the wall, military funding, money for the self-defense Golden Dome, funds for the Coast Guard to get new boats and for the Air Force to get new planes all come under the bill. A big issue that's on the minds of every American who travels by air is the air traffic control infrastructure, which this new bill plans to address by modernizing the archaic systems that are still in place across the country. Some air traffic controllers still rely on floppy disks—and if you don't know what those are, that's a pretty good indication that they're outdated.
With the economy, the left has been consistently wrong about the Trump Administration. The Trump administration sides with the working class and the One, Big, Beautiful Bill is designed for working men, women and families. In this legislation, fifty-thousand manufacturing jobs would be invested in by the United States federal government, $2 billion dollars would be invested in areas like energy and infrastructure, and local tax revenue would be boosted. Through these policies in the bill, all classes of Americans would be helped, and the middle class would be rejuvenated.
While growing business and economic opportunity for the nation, the One, Big, Beautiful Bill would also cut costs and taxes for all Americans. By modernizing aging highways, bridges, electricity grids, and water systems, nearly $500 billion would be saved solely due to further government efficiency through needed updates. To cut federal government red tape, the One, Big, Beautiful Bill would bring control and funding allocations over federal grants back to the states, where they know what is best for their regions' needs. As well, the energy sector would be bolstered by nearly three hundred billion dollars worth of federal funding to give independence in domestic gas, oil, and renewables.
Some in the GOP may not get everything that they want, but the bill must be passed for the good of the nation and most importantly, the American people who need relief after four years of being fleeced by the Biden administration.
