While a few rabble-rousers on Capitol Hill in early 2021 was widely denounced as an “insurrection” by leftist politicians and pundits, they insist that the ongoing riots in Los Angeles and beyond are nothing more than “peaceful protests.”
Using the same disingenuous language that surrounding the destructive George Floyd riots of 2020, President Trump’s critics are now denouncing his administration for daring to restore order on the streets of the United States.
During a recent White House press conference, one reporter echoed that rhetoric in a pointed question to press secretary Karoline Leavitt.
The plain-spoken spokesperson didn’t hold back when delivering her response.
According to the Daily Wire:
“The president absolutely supports peaceful protests. He supports the First Amendment. He supports the right of Americans to make their voices heard,” said Leavitt.
“He does not support violence of any kind. He does not support assaulting law enforcement officers who are simply trying to do their job. It’s very clear for the president what he supports and what he does not,” she continued. “Unfortunately for Democrats, that line has not been made clear, and they’ve allowed this unrest and this violence to continue, and the president has had to step in.”
Asked if the president would support peaceful protesting during the military parade scheduled for Saturday, Leavitt dismissed the question.
“Of course, the president supports peaceful protests. What a stupid question,” she said before moving on to the next reporter.
The exchange came as LA-style anti-border patrol demonstrations were being planned and executed in cities nationwide:

This is in Tucson before it became a riot. These aren’t protests against ice or for illegals. Listen to the chants. These are marxists. It’s about taking down America. They’ll use any vehicle to try to achieve this.

Seattle PD Chief Shon Barnes says he won’t cooperate with ICE in deporting illegals.
Democrats will similarly act in all sanctuary cities. Then when ICE comes in to do deportations, people will riot. And then politicians will blame ICE.

Leavitt’s remarks were just the latest from the White House on this developing story, as NBC News reported:
For the White House, this scene — Trump battling a blue state over his signature issue — is a political win, officials said. It’s a nationally watched saga of the sort that has long defined his career: a made-for-TV moment.
“We’re happy to have this fight,” a White House official said, emphasizing that politically, the administration sees it as a winning issue.
Democrats and immigration activists have broadly blasted the Los Angeles operation as illegal and inhumane and insisted that it’s all about politics — and not about sound public policy.
ADVERTISEMENT“This Administration’s actions are not about public safety — they’re about stoking fear,” former Vice President Kamala Harris, a Los Angeles resident who ran against Trump last year, wrote in a statement.
But Trump allies argue that it’s simply Trump carrying out the hard-line immigration agenda that was the centerpiece of his campaign. NBC News spoke with four White House officials, in addition to other Trump supporters, who requested anonymity to speak candidly.
“This is what America voted for, period,” a Trump adviser said. “This is the America First focus that got the president elected and is driven by nothing else than what he promised American voters.”
“Look at the violence, the attacks on law enforcement,” the adviser added. “If Democrats want to support that, let them. This is why we win elections and they do not.”
Trump advisers also pointed to the fact that the president’s immigration policies continue to get high marks in most public polling.

Q: So if there were peaceful protests on Saturday for the military parade the president would allow that?
