Republican lawmaker John Jessup sentenced to prison for getting his 21-year-old daughter drunk in Las Vegas for her birthday before m*lesting her in a hotel room.

Disgusting freak.

During sentencing, the daughter, Rachel, Jessup’s youngest daughter, says her father said, “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.”

Rachel says her father kept feeding her alcohol, telling her to “keep up” with him. When she told him she wanted to take a break, he kept pressuring her.

The daughter says that when they got back to the hotel room, she threw up and took a shower.

She says she fell asleep and woke up to Jessup m*lesting her.

At first, it was reported that Jessup simply “assaulted a woman.” It wasn’t until after he was elected that the daughter came forward and revealed that she was the victim.

“I just told myself, ‘They’re uninformed. You can’t be mad because they don’t have the full story,'” Rachel said, speaking of his election.

Rachel says she suffers PTSD and depression. She had to take an STD test following the attack.

Jessup served Hancock County Commissioner and councilman. He was forced to step down.

He was sentenced to up to 15 years.

Daily Mail reports:

John Jessup, 50, pleaded guilty in November to abusing his daughter Rachel on January 26, 2024, when they took a vacation together to Sin City for her coming of age.

Rachel, who agreed to be identified in court and subsequent interviews, spoke through tears at her father’s sentencing Thursday as she recounted the horror moment she woke up naked in a hotel bed with her father.

She described a chilling night out with her father where he plied her with alcohol and continually told her: ‘What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.’

Jessup is a former Hancock County Commissioner and councilman who was forced to step down over his depravity.

He’s been jailed for a maximum of 15 years for the depraved act of incest, and will serve a minimum of six years behind bars.

Per NewsNation:

His daughter, Rachel Jessup, came forward this week as the woman, telling the Greenfield Daily Reporter she and her father went to Las Vegas to celebrate her 21st birthday, a tradition all of her siblings did for the milestone birthday.

“I’m not a big drinker, but as soon as we got there he started drinking and kept telling me I had to keep up with him, and he kept ordering me drinks and making me drink them, getting me drunk,” Rachel Jessup told the Greenfield Reporter. “When I woke up, I knew I had been touched in a way I did not want to be touched.”

Jessup agreed to plead guilty Thursday to a lesser charge of attempted sexual assault, a felony, and could receive at least a two-year prison sentence or terms of probation.

Felons are not eligible to hold office in Indiana, according to state law.

“Mr. Jessup decided to keep his name on the ballot after charges were filed,” Hancock County Republican Chair Janice Silvey said in a released statement. “He later verbally and via text committed to resigning if elected … If Mr. Jessup resigns or a felony conviction occurs, the party would then need to call a caucus to fill his position.”

One of three Republican candidates on the ballot, Jessup received 15,000 votes and would have begun his second term as a county commissioner in the new year.

“It’s been my greatest honor serving the people of Hancock County and I’m deeply, deeply ashamed and profoundly sorry for the shame that I brought to the county,” Jessup told the Greenfield Daily Reporter.
