Doug Emhoff Complains After Trump Administration Boots Him From Museum Board: ‘I Will Continue To Speak Out’

President Donald Trump has removed political appointees from a number of positions as he builds an executive branch under his influence.

But some of those who have been replaced aren’t taking the news well.

Doug Emhoff, who was appointed to the Holocaust Memorial Council by Joe Biden while he was married to the vice president, is now claiming that Trump is the one making a “divisive political decision” by kicking him off of the board.

Here’s how The Hill reported on the move:

A White House official confirmed to The Hill that some members of the council have been released and the Trump administration is interviewing potential replacements.

Other former officials removed from the council included Biden’s former chief of staff Ron Klain, former Biden domestic policy adviser Susan Rice and former senior adviser to first lady Jill Biden Anthony Bernal, among others, The New York Times reported

The museum did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the removals. The council includes over 50 members as well as members appointed by the House and Senate, according to the museum’s website.

Many social media users were critical of Emhoff’s reaction to the news:

Fox News provided additional coverage of Emhoff’s response:

“Today, I was informed of my removal from the United States Holocaust Memorial Council,” he said. “Let me be clear: Holocaust remembrance and education should never be politicized. To turn one of the worst atrocities in history into a wedge issue is dangerous – and it dishonors the memory of six million Jews murdered by Nazis that this museum was created to preserve.”

Emhoff said that despite his removal, he would continue to speak out against hate “in all its forms.”

“No divisive political decision will ever shake my commitment to Holocaust remembrance and education or combatting hate and antisemitism,” he said, adding: “I will continue to speak out, to educate, and to fight hate in all its forms – because silence is never an option.”

Emhoff has previously been criticized for getting basic facts wrong about the Jewish religion, such as the origin of one of its most significant feasts, Hanukkah. Meanwhile, both his wife and Biden took heavy criticism for not being more supportive of Israel and its war against Hamas after the Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist attacks.

And here’s some coverage of the fundraising controversy involving his daughter:
