CNN Analyst Reveals ‘Big Wake-Up Call’ For Schumer: ‘It’s Almost Unfathomable’

Despite the network’s well-deserved reputation as biased toward leftists, CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten has proven to be a straight shooter when it comes to sharing poll results.

And the most recent example involves a survey of New York Democrats that showed just how poorly Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is performing among his theoretically loyal base.

As the Daily Caller reported:

Schumer faced significant backlash from within the Democratic Party after he voted to advance a GOP-backed spending bill in March to avoid a government shutdown. Enten, on “CNN News Central,” said Schumer’s support from the New York Democrats he represents has plummeted since December 2024.

“New York Democrats on Chuck Schumer — view him favorably in December of 2024. That was just a few months ago — it was 73%,” Enten said. “Look at where that number has fallen to in just a few months. It is now down to just 52%. That is the lowest I could ever find in Siena College on how Democrats in Chuck Schumer’s home state view him.”

“And keep in mind, if you’re thinking about a primary challenge, it would be a few years away — but [Democratic New York Rep.] Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s favorable rating among Democrats is considerably higher, in the 60’s,” he continued. “So he is doing quite poorly in his own home state of New York. I never thought I’d see the day in which just 52% of New York Democrats view Chuck Schumer favorably. It’s almost unfathomable.”

Here’s an overview of the hit Schumer’s approval rating has received recently:

The following is a transcript of the post accompanying the video above:

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer faces mounting criticism, even from media allies, as his leadership falters.

Since Trump’s 2024 victory, Democratic approval ratings have crashed, threatening Schumer’s hold on power.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is eyed as a potential replacement, with Schumer’s poor poll numbers signaling trouble.

When pressed on his future, he dodges with rambling responses:

“Right now, I am focused on showing the American people how bad Trump’s economics are.”

This unfocused reply only deepens doubts about his leadership.

Fox News recently reported on the same trend:

That anger by Democrats appears to be reflected in a new poll of New Yorkers conducted by Siena College.

Schumer’s favorable rating stands at 39% favorable and 49% unfavorable among New York state voters questioned in the poll, which was conducted April 14-16 and released on Tuesday.

It’s the worst showing by Schumer in the 20 years Siena College has been conducting polls in New York state.

“A first in a Siena College poll: Schumer is 10 points underwater, with a plurality of voters viewing him unfavorably,” Siena College pollster Steven Greenberg said.

Fueling the deterioration of Schumer’s numbers is a plunge in favorability among Democrats.

And here’s a clip of Enten’s latest revelation:
