Few public figures have fueled more social backlash in recent years than transgender social media influencer Dylan Mulvaney.
So when Mulvaney recently revealed a desire to permanently move to the U.K., many Americans were quick to endorse the plan.
As the New York Post reported:
“I’m trying to move here permanent [sic],” the 28-year-old told the British LGBTQ news website, Pink News, which interviewed Mulvaney as she prepares to star in “We Aren’t Kids Anymore” in London’s West End.
“There’s something about being here that makes me feel like, um, people have been so kind, and um, I just, the theater culture’s amazing, and um, Percy Pigs are my favorite,” Mulvaney said in a reference to a virally popular gummy candy in the UK.
“So honestly, that makes the move worth it.”
The social media response was swift:

The Post shared several quips from other social media platforms, including one commenter who wrote: “When the trash takes itself out.”
Aside from a trove of online content widely seen as both annoying and offensive to biological women, Mulvaney became synonymous with the boycott against Bud Light after the two teamed up for an ill-advised promotional stunt.
Last month, People published a sympathetic write-up about Mulvaney and the damage inflicted on the iconic American beer brand:
Mulvaney felt abandoned and alone in the aftermath, facing threats, stalkers and suicidal thoughts.
Two years later, “I am about a thousand times stronger than I was before that situation happened,” Mulvaney says. “I’m finally in a place that I have healed, and I’m in such a good mental headspace. I feel like I’m really ready for the world to know what that experience was like behind the scenes.”
The book, she adds, illustrates that “no matter who you are, what your identity is, if you are in a tough situation, there is a light at the end of the tunnel eventually.”
Here’s a look at the lasting damage the collaboration has caused to the company:
